Acknowledgment

I want to thank those who made this book possible. Per Porsild initiated me - no, immersed me in the breed when I purchased a pup from his first litter. He has continued to offer help and encouragement through the years. Per today lives in Norway but is a member of the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc. and he serves a key role on the breed council. His training as a conformation judge brings valuable experience to this side of the Atlantic.

The Small Munsterlander would never have received broad acceptance in North America had it not been for the many dedicated individuals that fell in love with the Small Munsterlander. I mention in alphabetical order the board members of SMCNA: Gordon Bashaw, Ray DeJong, Mike Downey, Kris Hill, Mick Jensen, Barbara Krieger, Tom McDonald, Solon Rhode, June Sengpiel, Irene Thun, Bev Turner, and Jeff Turner,

Special mention goes to Ned Sengpiel who in the early years embraced the breed and expended great effort in importing two grown German tested dogs that were qualified to breed.

Jeff Turner and Carol Stephens spent long hours turning out a newsletter that is without comparison. The newsletter is great because of the contributions from board members, regional representatives and present and former ordinary members like John Anderson, Tim Anderson, Dwight Beske, Walt and Alice Brodie, Mike Bowser, Heidi Carles, Bobbe Carney, Jay Drews, Julien Dussault, Pete Eising, Jason Engbrecht, Nancy Focht, Roy Gotham, Richard Hansen, Al Harmeyer, Tracy Harmeyer, Julia Hislop, Garth Hull, Tom Ivanhoff, Jim Julson, Lynn and Margaret Kirsteatter, Debra and Tom Krsnick, John Liscovitz, Jeff Lorenzini, Dean McInnes, Clayton Monical, Larry Morales, Ern van Noller, Richard Owens, Dean Rasmussen, Steve Sargeant, Mark Schnubel, Scott and Sue Schultz, Jill Schwantes, John Simmons, Ed Thompson, David Thun, The Tuckermans, John Turner, Briana White, and Wendy Wied.

The club's regional representatives field questions from new members and arrange events in their areas. They are Mark Bulvanoski, Melissa Herz Coffin, Steve Enberg, Carl Hamke, Bruce McDonald, Mike Palmitier, Kelly Perry, and Tom White.

Webmaster Bruce McDonald deserves special appreciation for maintaining a wonderful presentation of the breed on the Internet. See The Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc.

A special thank you goes to the individuals that gave me permission to use their photos in the book; R.W. Bass, Mike Bowser, Robert Briggs, Mark Bulvanoski, Becky and Steve Enberg, Tracy Harmeyer, Melissa Herz Coffin, Kris Hill, Mick Jensen, Claire Löns, Tom McDonald, Mark van Norman, Per Porsild, June Sengpiel, Irene Thun, Mary Jo Whitener, Daniel Zemanovic and Rodney Ziegler.

This book would not have been such an easy read had it not been for co-author Don Knaus who diligently and tirelessly worked on changing my Danish/English to beautifully readable English.
And, had it not been for my wife Vibeke, this work could not have been accomplished. She is my lifelong partner and has served as the ambassador for Small Munsterlanders for more three decades. For her encouragement with this work, she deserves thanks from all Small Munster lovers - most of all from me.
